Kelly Pikula
Kelly Pikula has played with many bands and in many
musical styles. He began playing music with his brothers in a wedding
band (polkas and all). Kelly's first forays into original music included
the bluesy-rock of Saturday Night Fishfry and the ubiquitous melange of
rock-a-billy / roots / blues in the Swingin' Ya Band. Kelly began
playing with John Armstrong in a blues trio called Austin in 1990, with
Edmonton-based guitarist / singer / harp player, Guy Gagne. This
rhythm section continued working together with Al Brant and, eventually,
Eddie Patterson to form the origtinal Al Brant Band. Kelly and John
have also played together in other bands including Preston Willams' Drunken
Boat / Revolover, the Eclectics, Naked Ape, Tapestry, Wendy McNeill &
Fiends and, now, with the Ancestors. Lately, Kelly has been splitting
his performance time between the trap kit and a combination of jimbeh,
dumbek and other percussion instruments.
